Ellie was born in Wales, where her childhood mostly consisted of reading books, eating welshcakes and drawing pictures with her mum. In 2011, she graduated from UWE, Bristol, with a first class honours degree in Drawing & Applied Arts. It was here she became fascinated with old children’s books and print processes. Deciding there was so much more to learn, Ellie set off to Cambridge to study on the prestigious MA in Children’s Book Illustration, graduating in 2015.
Ellie believes drawing to be at the heart of her work, working traditionally with pen and pencil, and applying colour digitally to give her illustrations a contemporary feel. Her work was highly commended in the Macmillan Prize for Children’s Picture Book Illustration. She lives in London.
Ellie is currently illustrating the Jasmine Green fiction series, written by Helen Peters and published by Nosy Crow. Titles include A Piglet Called Truffle (2016), A Duckling Called Button (2017), and A Sheepdog Called Sky due to be published in June 2017. She is also working on her debut picture book.
