Jo has worked for many years as a fashion designer for large high street retailers, but enrolling on the MA in Children’s Book Illustration at Cambridge School of Art has enabled her to fulfil her long-held dream of being an illustrator.
Although she still works part-time in fashion, Jo now spends as much time as she can drawing and creating characters in her irresistibly jam-packed sketchbooks.
Her first picture book, How To Be a Dog, was published by Scholastic in 2015 and since then Jo has also published Messy Molly (Scholastic 2016) and illustrated Petunia Paris’s Parrot (text by Katie Hawworth, Templar 2016). Her third book as author-illustrator, Cat in a Box, was published in July 2017, followed by What’s for Lunch Papa Penguin? in September 2018, both published by Scholastic.
For her colour work, Jo uses a combination of painting and screen printing, and is keen to experiment with new techniques in her quest for the perfect representation for her ideas. She is also available for black and white line work.
