Maisie Paradise Shearring

Maisie Paradise Shearring was born in Hull. From a very early age, Maisie’s parents encouraged her love of drawing and stories, and allowed her to draw pretty much anywhere…

She studied Illustration at Edinburgh College of Art, graduating with a First Class Honours degree in 2013. In January 2015, Maisie completed an MA in Children’s Book Illustration at Cambridge School of Art, where she gained a distinction and also received the Ronald Searle Prize for Creativity. In March 2015, Maisie won the International Award for Illustration at the Bologna Children’s Book Fair. This award was given in recognition of illustrations from her graphic novel, Susan’s School Days.

In April 2016 Maisie’s illustrations for Oscar Wilde’s The Happy Prince were published by Grupo SM in Spain, and will be published in the UK by Thames and Hudson in April 2017. She has also illustrated the text Va Jouer avec le Petit Garçon by Clémentine Beauvais for Éditions Sarbacane in France. She is currently working on her debut picture book as both author and illustrator.
