Marta Altés

Marta studied graphic design in Barcelona and after working there as a graphic designer for almost five years she decided to pursue the interest for illustration that she’d had since she was a child. She moved to England and joined the MA in Children’s Book Illustration at the Cambridge School of Art. Now, after finishing the course, she thinks it was the BEST decision she have ever made.

Marta’s debut picture book No! (Child’s Play 2012) was shortlisted for the Waterstones Children’s Book Prize, and won the Read it Again! award and the Nottingham Children’s Book Prize. She has published several more picture books as author-illustrator, including My Grandpa (Macmillan 2012), I am an Artist (Macmillan 2013), The King Cat (Macmillan 2015) and Little Monkey (Macmillan 2016). She has also worked on chapter book texts as an illustrator.

Most recently Marta has illustrated an exciting new edition of Rudyard Kipling’s Just So Stories, retold by Elli Woollard and due to be published in October 2017 by Macmillan.
