Becka grew up in Manchester where she still lives, above a little cafe in her home office filled with inspiration and coffee stains.

She graduated in 2012 with an honours degree in Illustration for Children’s Publishing from Glyndwr University in North Wales. It was there that her passion for children’s books really took flight.

Becka has always been fascinated by the way illustration and narrative work together, and she loves working with a new text, figuring out how to make the most of a humorous situation for example, and exploring different character ideas.

Becka has worked on some really lovely projects with equally lovely authors, such as Pamela Butchart (Wigglesbottom Primary series, Nosy Crow), Clementine Beauvais (The Royal Babysitters series, Bloomsbury), Harriet Whitehorn (Violet series, Simon & Schuster) and David Bedford, the author of The Three Ninja Pigs, Becka’s debut UK picture book as illustrator, published in January 2016 by Simon & Schuster. She also illustrated the cover for Claire Fayers’ Voyage to the Magical North (The Accidental Pirates), published by Macmillan Children’s Books.

In the last couple of years, Becka has illustrated the picture book Moo La La! by Stephanie Shaw (Simon & Schuster), and the middle grade series St Grizzle’s by Karen McCombie (Stripes), and the Goodly and Grave series by Justine Windsor (HarperCollins Children’s).

Most recently Becka has illustrated the picture book Sir Boris the Brave and the Tall Tales Princess written by Marc Starbuck, which will be published by Egmont in 2018. 2019 has already seen Becka’s work for Barrington Stoke’s Toad Attack by Patrice Lawrence in March , and Super Cats by Gwyneth Rees, published by Bloomsbury .
