We are thrilled to announce that Lauren Gardener has sold World rights for debut author, Elle McNicoll, to Knights Of’s Editorial Director, Eishar Brar.
A Kind Of Spark is a middle-grade novel about friendship, courage and self-belief; to be published by Knights Of in June 2020!
A Kind of Spark (£6.99 paperback original) tells the story of 11-year-old Addie as she campaigns for a memorial in memory of the witch trials that took place in her Scottish hometown. Addie knows there’s more to the story of these ‘witches’, just like there is more to hers. Can Addie challenge how the people in her town see her, and her autism, and make her voice heard?
Addie’s story was born from Elle’s own experiences of neurodiversity and her commitment to seeing greater representation in children’s books.
Elle McNicoll is a debut children’s author from Scotland, now living in East London. As a neurodivergent writer, she is passionate about disability rights and representation and assists as a mentor for neurodivergent students at UCLA. When she isn’t writing fiction, she works as an editor and in her spare time, makes colourful chokers for friends to wear. A Kind of Spark is her first novel.
A note from Eishar Brar:
We’re really honoured to be publishing Elle’s debut – as well as being a beautifully written gem, A KIND OF SPARK has heaps of heart. Everyone has been moved to tears by Addie’s strength of spirit; we cannot wait to bring this inspiring novel to young readers around the world.
