The trilogy, which 'takes you on an adventure beyond your wildest dreams', features representation of anxiety and queer families throughout.
DK Children's has signed the Youngest Faircrest trilogy by Ollie George Clark after a four-way auction. Publisher Francesca Young bought global rights, including audio, from Callen Martin (acting as Lauren Gardner's maternity cover) at Bell Lomax Moreton. The first title, Youngest Faircrest and the Search for a Sorcerer, will be out in paperback in June 2026, with further titles following annually. The series will be illustrated throughout in black and white by an as-yet-unconfirmed illustrator.
DK describes the series as 'the perfect blend of humour, adventure, and heart, offering a story of courage, friendship, and self-discovery that readers will treasure'.
Young said: "Youngest Faircrest and the Search for a Sorcerer is one of the funniest books for children I have ever read. This series takes you on an adventure beyond your wildest dreams and I feel very lucky to be publishing Ollie. I fell in love with Youngest the second I started reading and I can't wait for legions of readers to fall for him too."
Clark is a 30-year-old gay man with dyslexia, and the winner of the British Comedy Guide Sitcom Competition 2022 and Soho House Hot Seat. He has been nominated for the David Nobbs Memorial Comedy award, the BAFTA Rocliffe TV Comedy prize and the Liverpool Hope Playwriting prize. In 2023, his original play Nightmare(ish) was broadcast on BBC Radio 4. He is currently under commission for three new television comedy / dramas with The Story Collective, Esmeralda Productions and Brock Media. He is also under commission by Tuckshop UK for original plays. As a child, he didn't see himself reflected on the pages of the stories he struggled to read. For this reason Youngest Faircrest features representation of anxiety and queer families throughout, and why the book has accessibility at its heart.
Clark said: "This is the story I always wanted to tell - one of adventure, humour, impossible creatures, daring missions and magical pigs; all centred around a truly exceptional protagonist. I'm thrilled to be working with Francesca and the team at DK to bring Youngest Faircrest to life. I can't wait for what the future holds across multiple adventures, but most of all am looking forward to introducing readers to the world of Bogsmarsh."
