Scholastic has signed Hot Young Royals, a contemporary YA novel by Katy Birchall. Fiction publisher Lauren Fortune bought world rights from Lauren Gardner at Bell Lomax Moreton, and the book is out in May 2025.
The premise: 'At Clairmont Hall, the corridors are ruled by the Elites - a group made up not only of London's richest but actual royalty - which includes Princess Caroline, rumoured to be promised to the dazzling young duke, Xavier. For Ruby, newly arrived in this intoxicating world, infiltrating the Elites might be the key to finding out who her father is. She must balance her new life, new crush and - after her Father is revealed to be the King of England - her new role as Princess.'
Birchall said: "I don't think I've ever had more fun than writing Hot Young Royals - a story that I've been longing to write for a while now - and I could not be happier that it has found its home at Scholastic. The team's talent, dedication and utter joy in what they do continues to inspire me as a writer, and I feel so lucky to have the opportunity to work once again with my amazing editor Lauren and the entire Scholastic team on this project. I can't wait for this royal tale to be out in the world!"
Fortune said: "This book is wildly entertaining, filled with exclusive parties, sabotage, scandals and #FakeDating tension that’s super swoony. Katy beckons you into the top secret world of the hot young royals and you are NOT going to want to return to reality! An absolute joy of a book."
