Michael Dobbs’ masterpiece and US TV phenomenon, “House of Cards”, has been nominated for nine Emmy awards, including Best Drama. The Netflix original programme starring Kevin Spacey, who was nominated for Best Actor, has made Emmy history by becoming the first ever online drama to gain so many nominations. “House of Cards” has caused uproar by being the first of its kind to challenge major broadcasting networks. Netflix saw an astonishing 14 nominations in total, reflecting the way that internet streaming services are revolutionising the way that consumers get and watch television programmes.
