We are delighted to announce that this festive season Harrods is partnering with our very own trail-blazing childrens’ book author and illustrator Oliver Jeffers, to transport families to ‘The Wonder of Stories’ a fantastical storyland inspired by his creative universe.
‘The Wonder of Stories’ is an interactive adventure through eight of Jeffers’ most famed worlds, as featured in his best-selling books published by HarperCollins Children’s Books. Children, both young and old, are invited on an interactive journey through Jeffers’ illustrations. Mini adventurers begin at the Lost and Found office, a room inspired by his 2005 book of the same title, before travelling from Harrods through a magical world. On their voyage they reach the dynamic The Way Back Home finale where visitors take off in a rocket ship, where they leave earths ‘Ice World’ to travel to the moon. The experience has been designed specifically to maintain social distancing and health-and-safety for families, without compromising on any element of the magical experience for families.
To conclude their visit, families can experience an Oliver Jeffers afternoon tea, created by Harrods world-famous chefs, inspired by the charming illustrations of Jeffers’ stories.
Harrods wants families to enjoy this festive experience no matter where they are spending this Christmas season, and have made the Harrods x Oliver Jeffers experience available to enjoy from home, through interactive printable artworks and virtual art classes, which invite the audience a sneak peek inside Oliver Jeffers’ studio. Oliver guides viewers through a step-by-step tutorial on how to recreate some of his most iconic characters such as The Hueys and the penguin from Lost and Found.
‘The Harrods Edition’ boxset of four of Jeffers’ most celebrated stories How to Catch a Star, Lost and Found, The Way Back Home and Up and Down published in partnership with HarperCollins Children’s Books, will be available to enjoy together at home. Also available is a limited-edition ‘Oliver Jeffers Storytelling Hamper’ which includes the ‘Harrods Edition’ boxset, Here We Are poster, a Harrods Peacock bauble and stocking alongside a selection of Harrods most delectable Christmas treats.
