  Proud Makes the William Hill Sports Book of the Year Shortlist! 

We are delighted to announce that Proud - the sensational new autobiography by Gareth Thomas has made the shortlist for the William Hill Sports Book of the Year Award – the richest and longest-running prize for sports writing! Written with Michael Calvin of the Independent on Sunday, twice Sports Reporter of the Year, Gareth’s inspiring and moving story transcends the world of sport to tell a universal truth about feeling like an outsider, and facing up to who you really are. The seven titles in the running to be crowned the winner of the £26,000 prize are as follows: Proud: My Autobiography by Gareth Thomas and Michael Calvin (Ebury Press) Bobby Moore: The Man in Full by Matt Dickinson (Yellow Jersey Press) Played in London: Charting the Heritage of a City at Play by Simon Inglis (English Heritage) Alone: The Triumph and Tragedy of John Curry by Bill Jones (Bloomsbury) Run or Die by Kilian Jornet (Viking) Night Games: Sex, Power and Sport by Anna Krien (Yellow Jersey Press) Floodlights and Touchlines: A History of Spectator Sport by Rob Steen (Bloomsbury) The overall winner will be announced at BAFTA, in central London, on Thursday 27th November – we’ll be keeping our fingers crossed that it's a grand slam for Gareth and Mike on the night!
