Bia is an illustrator and designer based in East London originally from Brazil. Bia recently graduated with Masters in Children’s Book Illustration from Cambridge School of Art and was awarded a scholarship from The Queen Elizabeth Trust. Previously she attended the London College of Communication, School of Visual Arts Illustration Residency (New York), Pictoplasma Academy (Berlin) and Elisava (Barcelona).
Her vibrant tropical influences are reflected in the bold use of block colours. Her style is also highly informed by her passion for printing and graphic references. Bia finds inspiration in little details of everyday life, turning them into pieces set in a fun-like atmosphere. Using humour and quirky characters in a visually playful approach.
Recently her work was selected finalist at the Macmillan Prize for Illustration, Golden Pinwheel Young Illustrators Awards, Society of Illustrators and The Unpublished Picturebook showcase dPICTUS Previously she was also finalist as New Talent at World Illustration Awards, featured at Creative Boom, Design Week, Buzzfeed, Elcaf festival and can be found in the nicest retailers and galleries across the globe.
When not in the studio, Bia can be found screen-printing, folding zines or taking care of her home mini jungle.
Bia’s first title, The Dream Book was published by Templar in July 2023 with a second to follow in 2024.
