As a child Emma always wanted to be an astronaut or artist. When she realised the latter didn’t actually involve hanging out with Martians and space food tasted gross, she decided that being an artist sounded like more fun.
In her early years she would spend hours drawing on literally anything, if she had no paper, furniture it was. One day she decided to draw a birds-eye view of an entire town onto a chest of drawers she had in her room. Ever since then her mum always made sure there was no shortage of paper to draw on.
Emma studied illustration at Derby university where she realised, she wanted to pursue children's book illustration. After graduating she worked all manner of jobs afterwards including cleaning, bar work and graphic design, all the while doing freelance illustration in her spare time. She became a full time freelance illustrator in the pandemic years working on many publications and magazines from clients including Highlights For Children magazine, Friend magazine, Franklin Watts, Brilliant Monsters Books.
Today she lives in Nottingham with her resident musician and mad scientist partner as well as her two feline overlords. Her long standing habit of getting lost in nature whilst stalking local wildlife inspires her to write stories featuring funny animals in ridiculous predicaments.
