We had a lovely evening last night at the launch of Sophie Ambrose's debut picture book The Lonely Giant!

The forest giant likes nothing better than smashing, bashing and pulling up trees. But when all the animals run away in fear, the giant finds himself so very sad and lonely. Can the lonely giant find a way to bring back the woodland bloom, and even make some friends?

Hosted by Waterstones Clapham Junction, we were all spellbound by Sophie's reading of her beautifully illustrated tale about a giant who learns the error of his ways. Highly commended in the Macmillan Prize for Illustration in 2013, The Lonely Giant is already receiving praise:
