Jessica is an illustrator and author of children’s books. She loves drawing children, animals and lyrical landscapes. She is inspired by her two daughters and tries to capture their quirky posturing and energetic movement and harness it along side their individuality into characters for her books.

Jessica has previously published several picture books and early readers including the Daisy Dawson series, Small and One Special Day: A Story for Big Brother and Sisters by Lola M. Schaefer. These books were created digitally but in recent years she found herself wanting to return to the drawing board and develop herself as an artist, so she enrolled on the MA in Children’s Book Illustration at Anglia Ruskin, graduating in 2017 with a distinction. There she rediscovered her love of painting and drawing with watercolour, crayon, pencil and ink and bringing her observation of life into her new picture book ideas.

Since then Jessica has published What Clara Saw which was nominated for the Clip Carnegie Medal in 2020 and four books in the Lucy McGee series by Mary Amato. Jessica’s most recent book, Beyond The Burrow, was published in March 2021!
