Chris Haughton wins CBI Book of the Year Award

We are giving a mighty bualadh bos to Chris Haughton who has won both Book of the Year and the Honour Award for Illustration at the 27th CBI Book of the Year Awards for his enchanting picture book, Goodnight Everyone!

The CBI Book of the Year Awards (formerly the Bisto Awards) are the leading annual children’s book awards in Ireland, and are made annually by Children’s Books Ireland. The CBI Book of the Year Awards identify, honour and promote excellence in books for young people by Irish authors and illustrators.
Published by Walker Books, Goodnight Everyone is a sweet and dreamy story about a little bear who tries to stay up all night, even when all the other animals in the forest are sleeping. The judges said:
Chris Haughton's vibrant illustrations combine perfectly with deceptively simple narrative in this mesmerising bedtime tale. Chronicling a series of animal yawns, the colour palette gradually darkens as the world of the forest is painted in sunset. Haughton’s use of cut-outs is particularly effective and the star maps in the endpapers add a mystic dimension to this captivating story.
