We are wishing a very happy Book Birthday to Chris Haughton and his latest picture book, the sweet and dreamy Goodnight Everyone!
The sun is going down and everyone is sleepy. Well ... almost everyone. There's still one Little Bear, who is very wide awake ...This is the fourth picture book from the award-winning author-illustrator, and Goodnight Everyone has already been getting a lot of attention in the press:
Chris Haughton has come up with a brilliant, unapologetically manipulative story, in which you meet yawning mice, stretching bears and knackered deer. His non-realistic, midnight-blue animals form a splendid crew and we watch with satisfaction as the whites of the little bear’s eyes get blearier with each beautifully executed page. (Sleepless ones of all ages. Zzzzz…). The Guardian Cut pages are cleverly used to take the reader on a journey through the woods, while repetitive, sleepy actions and a well-paced text make this a pleasure to read aloud. The Bookseller Perfectly pitched for parents and youngsters who are most definitely not sleepy, this gentle story and 'Goodnight' refrain is guaranteed to put even the most adamantly awake of children to sleep ...
