We were so excited to see The Day the Crayons Quit by Drew Daywalt and Oliver Jeffers claim the title of overall winner at this year’s Red House Children’s Book Award, alongside receiving the award for Books for Younger Children! The award is organised by the Federation of Children’s Book Groups, but the books are chosen by and voted for entirely by children. Oliver Jeffers’ illustrations combined with an anarchic plot proved a hit success in this collaborative work with Drew Daywalt and The Day the Crayons Quit achieved #1 New York Best Seller status last year. Our children's agent Helen Mackenzie Smith and Rachel Denwood from Harper Collins, were on hand to accept the award on behalf of Oliver and Drew at the awards ceremony which took place at the Southbank Centre in London on Saturday. With The Day The Crayons Came Home due for publication in August, we can't wait to see what the crayons will get up to next!
