Rhiannon Garth Jones is a writer and researcher whose areas of specialty include archaeology, heritage, identity, religion, science, sports, and technology. She completed her PhD in 2024, analysing the early Abbasid caliphs' relationship to Rome and their visual language of power. She is particularly interested in the intersection of empire, history, and religion and talking about how those things are definitely very relevant to the various sports she watches. She can be found @rhigarthjones.bsky.social, if that sounds like something you want to know more about.
Her book All Roads Lead To Rome will be published in April 2025 and considers the interpretations and receptions of Rome throughout history, how they help to explain the modern world, and why we think about the Roman empire daily.
