She graduated in 2009 with a degree in English Literature and Drama from the University of Manchester, and has a background in lifestyle journalism and PR. She is currently building her own list and is looking for non-fiction projects ranging from people undertaking extraordinary challenges and having amazing adventures, to celebrities, aspiring foodies and lifestyle brands. She has a passion for children’s literature and is also looking for YA and middle grade debuts with heart, humour and maybe a supernatural twist or two.
Jo began merchandising books on family holidays at the age of 6, showing that publishing runs in the family! Now with nearly 18 years of working in the industry, Jo joins the team with a wealth of experience. She has worked for HarperCollins as Children’s Sales Director and also Parragon Books as the UK Sales Director dealing with editorial teams, licensors and major retailers across the UK. Jo is building her list and really enjoys reading a strong voice in a story packed with passion & intrigue. Currently Jo is seeking crime, thrillers & suspense, contemporary romance, women’s fiction spanning commercial, literary & historical, and humour.
John joined in February 2019, after previously working for Stripes Publishing, Usborne Publishing and the Blake Friedmann Literary Agency, whilst completing the Kingston University Publishing MA. As the agency assistant, John provides administrative and editorial support across all the agents’ lists, and he is beginning to cultivate his own list, built around his passion for Science Fiction and Fantasy. Alongside reading every book to contain a jaded space captain, an in-over-his-head supernatural detective, or a past-their-prime mercenary crew on one last mission and all possible adventures in between, John was lucky enough to start his own publishing adventure in the hallowed halls of Gollancz and since then has been beta-reading for such celebrated authors as Bradley Beaulieu and Brian McClellan.
John is not open to submissions at this time. @JJBker
