The Crayons Are Back And They’re Ready For (Strike) Action

The Day the Crayons Quit, the best selling picture book from Drew Daywalt and Oliver Jeffers, has been translated into 15 languages, sold more than 1.1 million copies worldwide and been on the NY Times best-seller list for 57b weeks (and counting). But did you really think those feisty crayons would simply melt away back to the box they came from and give up on their campaign for Crayon equality? Back by popular demand, our waxy friends are set to carry on the fight when The Day The Crayons Came Home is published in August 2015. And if you thought that the Crayons had it tough the first time around, you're in for a big surprise - there are far worse things than simply being overworked like Blue and Red in The Day The Crayons Quit...

"Remember that crayon you accidentally melted in the dryer? Or the one your dog ate? Or the one you lost in the couch for two years? Well the crayons remember too, and they’re not happy about it.” Drew Daywalt
Despite the Crayons’ grumpiness, illustrator Oliver Jeffers  is excited to be putting crayon to paper again!
“Even more fun than drawing with crayons is drawing crayons themselves... with crayons,” said the illustrator. “Apparently one book did not quench my appetite for this activity. This time I get to use even more crayons from the crayon box. Some weird ones too!” Oliver Jeffers
Even Hollywood is sitting up and taking notice of the Crayons' plight, with Universal Pictures recently announcing a preemptive acquisition of the film rights to The Day the Crayons Quit, with Madhouse Entertainment to produce and Matt Lopez set to script! We can't wait to see what the future has in store for readers everywhere, when those pesky crayons finally come home!
