Kate worked as a stop-frame animator for 10 years, making music videos and commercials with a hand-made aesthetic for clients including Sigur Ros, Zero 7, Nike and Orange.
She studied a BA in Fine Art at the Slade in London and then an MA in Children’s Book Illustration at Cambridge School of Art.
In 2019, Kate won the Ronald Searle Award for creativity and came runner up in the Batsford Prize for her book on the discovery of prehistoric cave painting.
Kate loves history and real-life stories and can think of nothing better than bringing that to life for children; giving them access to explore the past through imagery and mysterious tales.
She is now beginning work on several non-fiction books as a writer/illustrator with PRH while teaching BA illustration at the Cambridge School of Art. Kate's first book, The Fossil Hunter was published in April 2023.
