Picture Books

Salomey Doku is a self-taught author-illustrator from Leeds, England. Originally trained in architecture, in which she worked for over 3 years, she started watercolour painting in 2018, and quickly fell in love with the art of storytelling.

She is an ardent lover of kids books and bubble tea, and is inspired by her diverse community, the natural world, and all things bright and beautiful.

When she is not drawing, she can either be found daydreaming, going on long walks around Yorkshire, with her head stuck in a book, jetting off on international breaks, at church, or talking to her pet hedgehog, Strawberry.

Salomey’s debut author-illustrated graphic novel, "BRIELLE & BEAR: Once Upon a Time...", published by Harper Fire, is out in September 2024, with a sequel to follow in Spring 2026. Her debut as a picture book illustrator arrived with the publication of "YOU CAN DO ANYTHING, TYRONE!", authored by Sir Lenny Henry and published by Macmillan Children's Books. Out now, with two more TYRONE titles in the series to follow in 2024 and 2025.
